African Exhibitors at Zimbabwe Trade Fair Seek Stronger Business Ties with China​

At the recently concluded Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo, African exhibitors expressed a keen interest in expanding business partnerships with China. The six-day event, which ended on April 26, 2025, featured over 600 exhibitors from 28 countries, showcasing a diverse range of products and services.​

Mary Mwalwanda Msukwa, Managing Director of Malawi's Tilawe Products, highlighted plans to introduce Kilombero rice—a long-grain, aromatic variety—to the Chinese market. She aims to exhibit this product at the upcoming China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo to attract Chinese buyers.​

Similarly, Rachael Dube from South Africa's Samtric Supplies, a mining equipment supplier, noted existing collaborations with Chinese mining firms and expressed a desire to deepen these relationships. She emphasized the mutual benefits arising from strengthened Zimbabwe-China mining cooperation.​

Malebo Matlala, representing a South African clothing company, discussed efforts to find Chinese manufacturers for safari-related products, aiming to cater to the growing number of Chinese tourists interested in African safaris.​

These initiatives underscore a broader trend of African businesses seeking to leverage China's vast market and manufacturing capabilities to foster economic growth and diversification.​
