Event technology is taking a significant leap toward sustainability with the appointment of automation expert Zak Homuth to lead the development of a pioneering AI-powered carbon footprint solution for business-to-business (B2B) events. Homuth, renowned for founding a collaborative design platform blending AI and IoT, has joined forces with UK-based creative agency Pie Factory to advance TIM, an emissions mapping product already in use by major brands like Amazon, Panasonic and Dolby.

TIM, which currently relies on expert manual input, will be reconceived as a highly automated software platform incorporating around 120 AI technologies. A standout feature under development is a camera-based tool that lets exhibitors calculate their exhibit’s carbon impact instantly with just a smartphone photo. This innovation promises to simplify sustainability measurement across thousands of trade shows and exhibitions globally.

With deep experience scaling technology from founding the engineering software Upverter to leading innovation roles at Altium and building robotic production systems Homuth brings both technical depth and industry insight to the project. He emphasises that trade shows currently lack robust software for tracking environmental impact, and that new regulatory pressures and customer demand for transparency make solutions like this essential.
