Melton Ska Fest Triumphs as Melton Mowbray Makes Its Musical Mark

Melton Mowbray’s Town Estate delivered a standout debut with the inaugural Melton Ska Fest on Saturday, 26 July 2025, held at Play Close Park. The one‑day event drew almost 1,800 enthusiasts for ten hours of live ska, reggae, 2‑Tone and rocksteady music, firmly putting the Leicestershire town on the national music map.

Headlining the festival were UK favourites including The Dualer International, Skabratts, Tann‑i Browne, Stereotype, Skankings, the AC30’s, with a vibrant closing performance by Madness tribute band Gladness. Complementing the live stage, Bootboy Radio DJs curated classic vinyl in the beer marquee while also streaming the event for remote audiences.

Organised by the Town Estate, led by CEO Dean Rees, Melton Ska Fest was designed with families in mind. Attendees enjoyed a full line‑up plus a funfair, giant inflatables, a soft‑play area, merch stalls including Raw Menswear, multiple food and beverage outlets and licensed beer facilities.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. One festival‑goer described the day as “Stunning,” and performers praised the professional setup and electric atmosphere. Drawing visitors from across the UK, the event reportedly boosted local hospitality, filling hotels and town venues. Organisers are already planning enhancements for the 2026 edition, including expanded catering and better facilities to elevate the experience even further.

With its first installment deemed a resounding success, Melton Ska Fest stands poised to become a fixture on Britain’s festival calendar.
