The Solomon Islands is set to host its first National Trade Fair in over a decade, marking a significant milestone in the nation's economic and cultural revitalization. Scheduled for the first week of July 2025, the event will coincide with the country's 47th Independence Anniversary on July 7.
Organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI), the 2025 Annual National Trade Fair (ANTF) carries the theme "Trade for Transformation – Rebuilding Our Happy Isles." This theme underscores the government's commitment to fostering innovation, showcasing local products, and strengthening connections across various sectors of commerce, culture, and creativity.
A pivotal development in the fair's preparation is the partnership between the 2025 ANTF Steering Committee and the Solomon Islands National University (SINU). The FOPA village, managed by SINU, has been designated as the official venue for the event. Dr. William Parairato, Pro Vice-Chancellor Corporate of SINU, emphasized the university's role in linking education, innovation, and enterprise with the national economy.
Vice Chairman of the 2025 ANTF, Simon Chottu, highlighted the fair's significance in revitalizing the domestic economy and supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The event aligns with the government's policy to diversify the economy, generate employment, and empower citizens through entrepreneurship and innovation.
Further details regarding the formal launch, exhibition, and vendor registration are expected to be announced by the end of May 2025.
