The pool and spa industry is grappling with a complex challenge: coordinating trade show schedules amidst increasing competition for venues. In the 2024/2025 season, professionals noticed unusual timing and overlapping events, leading to difficult choices for exhibitors and attendees.

Despite efforts by organizers to avoid conflicts, securing venues has become more challenging due to heightened demand. Smaller regional shows often find themselves competing with larger events for prime dates. For instance, the Western Pool & Spa Show, traditionally held in Long Beach, California, had to adjust its schedule due to the convention center's commitments to other events like gymnastics and cheerleading competitions. Similarly, the Southeast Pool & Spa Show in Nashville faces hurdles, as it occupies only a portion of the convention center and doesn't draw the same crowds as consumer shows.

Venue renovations add another layer of complexity. The Southwest Pool & Spa Show, typically hosted in Texas, has limited options due to ongoing renovations at convention centers in Dallas and Austin. These factors contribute to uncertainty, making it difficult for organizers to finalize dates well in advance.

While attendance and exhibitor participation remained strong in 2025, some believe that better scheduling could have enhanced these numbers. Looking ahead, organizers are optimistic that the 2026 season will see improved coordination, allowing the industry to focus on growth and innovation.
