Sam Fender’s 2024 arena tour has delivered a significant boost to the UK grassroots music scene, raising more than £100,000 for small venues nationwide. Through the Music Venue Trust’s Liveline Fund, this support has been channeled into two critical relief measures: emergency aid and improvement grants.

Nineteen venues received urgent assistance to avert imminent closures caused by issues like licensing disputes, financial hardship, or unexpected crises such as floods and fires. Another nineteen venues benefited from over £50,000 in grants aimed at upgrading facilities, including technical infrastructure and audience amenities uplifting both artist experience and audience enjoyment.

Fender expressed his pride in the initiative, saying, “It’s brilliant to see that money raised from the arena tour is making a real difference to so many venues… the idea that money from shows in big venues supports the smaller venues… is just common sense.”

Mark Davyd, CEO of Music Venue Trust, echoed Fender’s sentiment, emphasizing that this “remarkable contribution… has created a real and lasting impact on the grassroots music ecosystem.”
